Injury Update: Vidic Ahead Of Schedule

Manchester United captain, Nemanja Vidic has resumed full training following a series of ongoing problems with his knee (per The Telegraph) and could make his first appearance since September in United’s midweek Champions League game against CFR Cluj.

Ferguson is reported to have said: “It would be nice for him to play on Wednesday. We are not afraid of that.”

Glad tidings to Manchester United supporters who were expecting a Christmas return (per Daily Mail) from the missing captain. Vidic ruptured his anterior cruciate ligaments against Swiss Basel in last season’s disappointing Champions League campaign which left the United captain out of play for the rest of the season.

Nemanja Vidic has been sorely missed by a struggling defence and his timely return may see him feature in the Manchester derby.

In other injury news, Antonio Valencia’s return from a hip/thigh injury is estimated to be on the 9th of December, which may also see him take part in the Manchester derby. The hip injury is thought to be a contributing factor to the no. 7’s poor form of late. A fully fit Antonio Valencia may see the return of the world’s premier out-and-out right-sided winger.

The mercurial Nani is still a long way from recovery and is due to return on the 29th of December, just before the opening of the transfer window. A sign of things to come, perhaps?

Former Borussia Dortmund midfielder, Shinji Kagawa has been progressing slowly in recovery and is due to return on the 23rd of December, a far cry from the initial four week estimation.

About Mohamed Ismail

Mohamed is an avid football fan. As a matter of fact, he is a viewer of all different types of sport, from lacrosse to football to tennis, and has admittedly been lulled into viewing water polo once. Hopes to use the magic of language to express his view of subjects he is passionate about. He also, evidently, enjoys referring to himself in third-person.

Great piece! Very informative.. Good point you made about Nani though.. I personally believe, as much as I hate to admit it, I think he has played his last game for United!
